Q. What are the characteristics of this marble? Not an easy one to answer, ordering a sample and looking at it is your best bet. There are some great pictures on our blog as well and on Instagram. In our humble opinion this marble is vein cut creating an intricate yet subtle pattern of linear flow. It is this characteristic that makes it so popular commercially as watermarks are almost impossible to see. Maintenance free in the result, hence the use in Hotels and commercial areas. This marble is naturally scattered with dark gray or black threadlike vertical striations which is inherent to the stone. In short it has vertical black lines occasional through out the product. While these maybe mistaken as cracks by inexperienced installers (most likely not certified by the MIA) they are as natural as vertical veining on a pieces of Italian Carrara. An inexperienced installer may comment on the chance of water coming through the veining. This is a great indication of the skill of your installer as all marble is porous. That is why they have sealers. At this point you may need to consider another installer who knows all marble is porous and requires sealing. It is effectively the perfect test before work begins.
