Statuario Italian Marble

Statuario, also called Statuary Marble, is one of the most exclusive white marbles in the world. Quarried in Italy, specifically in the mountains above Carrara, this marble is limited in its availability. Statuario is a rare marble with its distinctive white base with bold striking gray veining, mixed with thinner patterns. The name "marble" comes from the Greek word mármaros, meaning "shining stone.” Few natural products are as impressive as Statuario. Statuario Marble has been used in architecture since the days of Emperor Augustus. The buildings of ancient Rome were built using Staturio Marble.
